The Institute finds a new home in upstate New York
The ICKSP has, at the invitation of Bishop Lucia of Syracuse, rescued a church once on the diocesan chopping block.
The Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest has recently moved to St. Mary’s of the Assumption in Oswego, New York. They have graciously taken into care a church which has lacked a Priest to say Mass for over a year now, and which was once in danger of being closed and sold.
First Mass of the Institute at the newest apostolate, St. Mary of the Assumption Shrine in Oswego, New York, at the gracious invitation of Bishop Douglas Lucia of the Diocese of Syracuse, whose Vicar General, Father John Mano expressed His Excellency’s heartfelt greeting to the hundreds of people who attended this inaugural Mass of the Institute at St. Mary’s cathedral-like church. Monsignor Michael Schmitz, Vicar General in the Institute, offered the Solemn Mass, at which the new Rector of the Shrine, Canon Edward Gardner, preached the sermon. Abbe Nicholas Tousignant, clerical oblate, will serve at the Shrine with Canon Edward Gardner.
